A Thought Provoking Assembly at St.Soldier’s  Mohali

Class -II students of St. Soldier School Mohali under the guidance of Ms. Anuradha Beotra put up a special assembly on ‘Save Rivers’ and stressed its importance. The causes of the depletion of rivers and the ways to save them from depletion like growing of trees, controlling cutting of trees etc. were explained. ‘Rally of Rivers’-an initiative taken by Sadguru was also informed. The assembly ended with a song sung in praise of rivers.

Guru Nanak Jayanti was celebrated at St. Soldier Mohali with great enthusiasm. In the morning assemblies the senior students of Class IX D and the junior students of Class II C under the guidance of their Class teachers Ms. Poonam Mehta and Ms Monika Singh enlightened the students about the birth, birthplace and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev ji ,who is the founder of Sikhism and the first guru of sikhs. They sang two beautiful Shabads in praise of the great Guru.

To get an insight and practical knowledge about the lesson of ‘Criminal Justice’ of India Class VIII students of St. Soldier School, Mohali visited Phase-8 Police Station. They saw various departments of the police station. They witnessed how an FIR is lodged. Daulat Singh Senior Munshi and Investigating Officer Bahadur Singh briefed the students about the role of the police. They also went to Saanjh Kendra where they were briefed about the apps, women helpline and other helpline numbers of the police. It was an informative trip which was conducted under the tutelage of the Social Science Department.

Wall of Kindness

To instill compassion amongst the students the school has initiated a ‘ Wall of Kindness’ for underprivileged.

Donated clothes, woollens, shoes and other household articles are hung on the wall daily.

The students of Class II-B under the guidance of their class teacher Ms. Kiratleen Kaur performed an assembly on ‘The Halloween Day’ and enlightened one and all about the significance of the day. They were dressed as various characters such as ghosts, monsters, skeletons, vampires, witches etc. Students enjoyed playing ‘trick or treat’ among the audience.

Special Assemblies on Diwali

Special assemblies on Diwali were conducted by the students of Class II-A and III-C under the guidance of their Class teachers  Ms. Daljit Kaur and Ms. Maninder Kaur respectively. In attractive costumes and using appropriate props Class II students enacted and narrated the story of ‘The Ramayan’ and also enlightened the students on how to celebrate safe Diwali and  warned them against the bad effects of crackers on the environment.

The students of Class III-C invited the Principal to light the lamp to begin the assembly. They melodiously sang the song ‘Diwali Aayee…” and apprised the audience about the spiritual significance of Diwali and why it is celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains. They concluded the assembly with messages like “Shun Crackers”, “Celebrate Green Diwali”, “Celebrate Safe Diwali to get blessings not curse”. They also appealed to use earthern  lamps instead of electric lights and exchange plants instead of gifts with friends and relatives.

 

Counselling Session against Blue Whale Game

Students counselled against Blue Whale at St. Soldier Mohali

 

Amidst concern over the Blue Whale Challenge an online game that has gone viral and has even been blamed for a spate of  suicides globally including India, a two hour long counseling session was organized at St. Soldier School Mohali to sensitize the students about this dangerous game. The School Counsellor Ms. Anamika Singh motivated the students not to fall prey to this game. School will issues the guidelines to the parents as well to ensure that they spend quality time with their children and track the games they play online.

Gandhi Jayanti

                           148th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi celebrated at St. Soldier Mohali.

A week long celebration of Gandhi’s 148th Birth Anniversary was held at St. Soldier School Mohali.Paying tribute to the Father of our nation students celebrated Gandhi Jayanti in a special way. Toddlers coloured the pictures of Gandhi ji and heard about the sacrifice made by him from their teachers. The Music Teacher made them learn “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram” and “Pir Paraee” .’Best Dressed Gandhi’ competition was held in which the toddlers participated enthusiastically. Props like specs, stick, charkha etc. made the competition difficult to be judged. Senior School students under the guidance of their Art Teacher Ms.Amandeep Kaur & Ms. Manpreet Kaur put in atleast 6 hour hard work in making a 50 feet long and 30 feet broad portrait with the help of sand art. This activity in the school proved that the savior of our country is not only seen on the currency notes but also in the hearts of the young ones. Director Karandeep Singh Brar appreciated the efforts of the students in celebrating the birthday of the great freedom fighter in a different manner.

 

 

 

 

CBSE Cluster XVIII Table Tennis Tournament

 CBSE Table Tennis Tourney  Commences at St. Soldier’s Mohali on 06.09.2017

Guest of Honour Mr. Pushkar Vohra- Joint Director Sports CBSE  hoisted the CBSE flag   and declared the C.B.S.E. Cluster XVIII Table Tennis Tournament ’Open’ at St. Soldier’s Ph-VII, Mohali by releasing balloons of the CBSE flag colours.  All the contingents took the Oath of Allegiance conducted by Abhineet singh Khangura  the National Hockey Player of the School. Earlier the students of the host school welcomed all the guests with a wonderful rendition of a melodious song ‘Chakk de India’ and a dance performance  boosting the morale of all the participants .

27 schools from the Tricity, Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh will be participating in the various events comprising Under 14, Under 16 and Under 19 ( Boys and Girls) Singles and Doubles categories.

The Principal of the host school Ms. Vinender Tiwana delivered the Welcome Address and emphasized the importance of Sports in the CBSE curriculum.

In his motivational speech Chief Guest Mr. Pushkar Vohra declared all the participants as winners. He said that the mantra of success any sport is focus, dedication and honesty. The team that strives hard keeping in mind all these factors along with a little percentage of luck and fortune become the Champions of the tournament.He appreciated the School Management for the well organized arrangements for holding the Tourney.

Feeling honoured for  hosting the tournament Director of the School S.Karandeep Singh wished all the participants “ All the Best”.

 CBSE Table Tennis Tourney  Commences at St. Soldier’s Mohali on 09.09.2017

CBSE Cluster XVIII  Table Tennis Tournament that started on 6th September at St. Soldier Mohali, concluded today after three exciting days of Sporty Adventure.

The participants had a wonderful experience of Bon homie, friendship, learning & sharing. The spirit of athleticism, camaraderie, healthy competition and sportsmanship pervaded the atmosphere for three days.

The tournament which was declared ‘Open’ by the Chief Guest Mr. Pushkar Vohra, Joint Director Sports, CBSE on 6th Sept. was declared ‘Close’ by Mr.Bhawani Mukherjee, Dronacharya Awardee & Chief Coach (SAOI) today following the Final Match in which St. Soldier Int. Convent School,Phase-7, Mohali  beat Durga Public School, Solan.

The Closing Ceremony began with the Welcome Address delivered by Principal Ms. Vinender Tiwana and ended with a Vibrant presentation ‘Jai Ho’ by the students of the host school St. Soldier Mohali, Vice Principal, Ms. Anjli Sharma proposed the vote of thanks to express gratitude to all who made it possible to fulfil the onerous assignment of holding the CBSE Cluster XVIII Table Tennis Tournament flawlessly.

 

 

Teachers’ Day Celebration

Students Enthrall Mentors at St. Soldier, Mohali

 

A teacher is indeed influential in moulding  the destiny of a child . To express their deep devotion and reverence towards their teachers, the students of St. Soldier School ,Mohali presented a colourful array of performances , celebrating  Teachers’ Day.

Mentors were greeted warmly as they entered , with greeting cards made by students . The celebration for the day commenced with  the morning assembly by the students of Class III-B under the guidance of their teacher Ms. Poonam Saini . They showcased the importance of teachers in their lives through a thought provoking skit. This was followed by a PPT on the Life of  Dr Radha Krishan  the great Teacher and  many other teachers who have made an impact on the society   followed by a foot tapping dance by the students.The Principal , Vice Principal and the Headmistress

appreciated the effort of students for organizing and presenting the whole show for their mentors.

and Ms Neetu Suri for  being the Most Regular  Teacher.

The Decadians ( Those who have completed 10 years of service ) were also awarded. They were Teachers Ms. Ravita Chaudhri, Ms. Poonam Saini, Ms.Parminder Kaur, Ms. Anuja Verma ,Ms Anita Eric, Ms Nirmal Dhiman and Dr. Nidhi.

Later , teachers were treated to a sumptuous meal organized by the management of the school.
