Oliver at St. Soldier’s Mohali
St. Soldier School commemorated its 25 glorious years of service in the field of education by organizing a musical extravaganza ‘Oliver’ based on the famous Hollywood Musical with its evergreen lyrics composed by Lionel Bart and sung by the school choir and enacted by students of the Junior Wing.
The show was graced by the Chairman Mr.Karnail Singh Brar, the Director Mr.Karan Singh Brar and Director Mr.Satya Minhas.
The show revolved around the titular orphan named ‘Oliver’ played by Akshara and Bhavya the two brilliant budding actors. The little boy’s hardships began at the workhouse run by Mr. Bumble, where this greedy man punished the innocent boy for asking more food and decided to sell him to Sowerberry, a coffin maker just for 5 Pounds. After experiencing a series of miseries there, one day Oliver found an opportunity to escape but he got trapped into a gang of juvenile pickpockets trained by Fagin. Eventually these wily criminals met a befitting fate for their indulgence in heinous crime of human trafficking.
The musical was applauded by the audience by its wonderful direction by the Advisor Ms. Vinender Tiwana and Ms. Amrit Kalsi assisted by the team of teachers. The act of Fagin enthralled everyone as ‘Pawni’ did full justice to her role . The role of deadly gangster ‘Bill Sikes’ enacted by Akshat was lauded greatly. ‘Ridhima’ as Mr. Bumble put up a wonderfull performance. The characters of Mr.Brownlow performed by Ashmeet Kaur impressed everyone. The music by Ms. Arti Teji and the Choreography by Ms. Harpreet Suri mesmerized one and all.
In the end the play ended with a message that Human Trafficking is a heinous crime and should be eliminated from the face of the society.
The Principal Ms. Anjli Sharma applauded the performances of each and every character and thanked the management for providing all the logistic support.
