To commemorate the Centenary of Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, the School gate bore a caption “Salute to the Martyrs of Jallianwala Bagh”.Students and teachers wrote several messages for the Martyrs to salute their sacrifices which contributed to make India free from the British rule. Poster Making and Slogan Writing Competitions were held on the same topic.
An assembly was conducted by students of Class X-B under the guidance of their class teacher Jasmeet Kaur. In the beginning a clip was shown describing the incident which was then narrated and described by the students. More than 1500 people were injured and 1000 were killed including old, young, women and children. The students highlighted , how Dyer had no mercy on people and kept on killing all of them.Bullets pushed through their flesh and Dyer didn’t care about 100 years down the lane. Dyer lives no more but the blood bath of Baisakhi has not found a cure. The well in which hundreds of people jumped to death can still be seen at Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar.
Meanwhile , Junior Wing of St. Soldier’s celebrated Baisakhi with great enthusiasm. Toddlers came attired in traditional dresses. Students of Class II put up an assembly under the guidance of their teacher Ms. Shivali Ratti . The assembly started with the traditional games like Pithu Garam, Kokla Chapki etc. which have now disappeared because of television and mobile apps.They said with the beat of the drums what has not changed is the celebration of Baisakhi with Bangra. The assembly ended with a foot tapping Bhangra. Sweets like ladoos and jalebis were distributed to all.
