Raksha Bandhan

                                     Raksha Bandhan was celebrated at St. Soldier Mohali

Students of St. Soldier School, Mohali celebrated Raksha Bandhan with great enthusiasm while Pre Nurseries and Nurseries coloured Rakhis, the Nurseries and KGs decorated them and carried them home happily. Class II B students under the guidance of their Class teacher Ms. Monika Singh put up the morning assembly. The importance of this festival was emphasised. ‘Phoolon kaa taaron kaa sabkaa kehnaa hai ‘ was enacted. Just as the sisters have trust in their brothers, through a skit they potrayed trust in the School’s Principal who protects them in school from any kind of danger.

In the end Rakhis were tied on each others’ wrists and a few of them even tied them on the wrist of the Principal Ms. Anjli Sharma who congratulated the students and applauded them for the activity and later narrated the story of Humayun and Rani Karmavati. Sweets were distributed to all.

In the Senior Assembly too students of Class III B under the guidance of Ms. Poonam Saini put up an activity showcasing the love and trust of a brother and sister. Sisters are no longer weak so now both of them are equally responsible for each others protection. Their activity ended with a rendition of a melodious song.

Independence Day

                             Independence Day celebrated at St.Soldier Mohali

St Soldier Mohali enthusiastically celebrated the 72nd  Independence Day. Everyone present was full of patriotic fervor. Each face glowed with the shimmer of a proud and free Indian. The whole ambience of the school echoed with the slogans of ‘Jai Hind’.

Principal Anjli Sharma hoisted the Tricolour and received the Guard of Honour as the young N.C.C. cadets marched past. Students of Classes II and IV under the guidance of Ms Anuradha and Ms Neetu Suri conducted special assemblies to enlighten the present generation about the significance of sacrifices made by the freedom fighters for the independence of our motherland. It was a thought provoking assembly as the participants kept asking whether after 70 years ‘Are we free from corruption, poverty, greed, drug abuse, fear, terrorism etc ?’
An Inter House Mime competition invited a loud applause from the mesmerized audience .

To create  awareness among the young ones a special Power Point Presentation on on the song ‘ Aey Mere Vatan Ke Logo’ was showcased.

The programme  was presided over by Chairman S. Karnail Singh Brar  who congratulated on this occasion and applauded the young patriots of the school.

Principal Anjli Sharma  was overwhelmed with the feelings of nationalism and  appreciated the efforts put in  and enthusiasm shown by the students to make this day a memorable and vibrant one. She conducted an exciting short quiz brainstorming young minds with the various questions pertaining to the history of Indian Independence.

Monsoon Masti

    MONSOON MASTI  AT ST. SOLDIER’S, MOHALI

In its endeavour to develop multiple intellegence, St. Soldier, Mohali
organized a Monsoon Masti week for the Pre-Primary Section of the
school wherein the little ones were engaged in a number of activities
related to their current theme ‘Monsoon’.

The downpour of activities began with the ‘Monsoon Feast’. The
toddlers brought monsoon delicacies like pakoras, kheer, puras,
gulgulas in their tiffins and came to school dressed in blue. Toddlers of Nursery Daffodils under the guidance of their teacher Ms.Narinder Kaur held the morning assembly and apprised thestudents what the colour “Blue’ stood for,various blue items showed and corelated it with a meaningful song. On the second day, Nursery and

K.G. students made paper boats for their ‘Puddle Play’.

It was followed by Recitation Competition by Class I & II
students on the theme ‘Rain’. The week concluded with the ‘Fancy Dress
Competition’  in which the tiny tots catwalked, dressed up  as fruits,vegetables, animals , insects and clouds found in the rainy season.The highlight of the Competition was the child dressed as a ‘Drop of Water’.

A sudden spell of rain took everyone by surprise. Teachers promptly
arranged a rain dance and the enthusiastic children donned their
monsoon paraphernalia like swimsuits and opened their umbrellas, wore their raincoats and danced to the tunes of popular rain songs.

Principal Ms. Anjli Sharma and Headmistress Ms. Amrit Kalsi
appreciated the efforts of the teachers and parents for encouraging
their children to participate in the ‘Monsoon Masti’.

Self Defence Seminar

                               Self Defence Seminar held at St. Soldier Mohali

Self defence especially for women is of utmost importance in today’s world with the spate in the number of attacks being perpetrated on this vulnerable gender. In a country where women are easy targets of molestation , acid attacks, eve-teasing etc. self defence for women has become a necessity more than ever . Equipping the women with self defence is the need of the hour. Realising the gravity of the present scenario, a Self Defence Seminar was conducted by Women Power Society in which its President and the resource person Ms. Monika Arora enlightened the girl students from Classes V to X regarding the significance of self defence. The master trainer Jaswant Singh gave practical demonstration of various techniques and skills of self defence to the fairer sex. Small but vital tactics of how to overcome a sudden physical assault by miscreants were taught to the girl students. In all it was an enriching experience for all who were the part of this informative seminar.

Accolades 2017-18

                  A dream becomes a goal when action is taken towards its achievement.

The Annual Prize Distribution 2017-2018 Ceremony at St. Soldier School Mohali was an occasion to acclaim the achievements of meritorious Soldiers who have attained excellence in academic and co-curricular spheres through their dedicated efforts and perseverance.Felicitating the achievers not only motivates them to set new benchmarks for themselves , but also spurs on their peers to aim for similar heights. S.Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Minister of Co-operation and Jails, Punjab  was the Chief Guest.  ‘We welcome you with a smile’, a melodious rendition followed by the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest to invoke the choicest blessings of God marked the beginning of the event.

Hon’ble Principal Anjli Sharma delivered the Welcome Address and thanked the Chief Guest for sparing his valuable time. The Annual Appraisal read out by the Principal apprised the audience about  the school’s targets, initiatives, achievements, aspirations ,various feats of the students, launching of new ventures etc.

The students of Class XII who brought laurels to the school by bagging highest aggregates were also honoured. Harshpreet Kaur-The Mohali topper  from Humanities scoring 96.4% followed by both Gurleen Kaur and Vanshika Sharma  with 95.6% from Medical Stream . Ankit Rupal  and Bikramjeet Singh of ClassX won accolades for obtaining 95.6%

The students from Class I to X were awarded for their excellent performances in Scholastic and Co-scholastic fields. All rounders from all the sections of Classes I to XII were also honoured . Purvani  of Class V won the Junior Best Artist Awards . Smriti Grag of Class X won the Senior Best Artist Award. Nilesh from Class VI and Abhishek Chib from  Class XII were the proud recipients of the Best Sportspersons  Award .

The trio of hockey winners State Champion Abhineet Singh, Jaskaran Singh and Ishqpreet Singh were honourned with the medals for their outstanding achievements in the field  of sports.

Scholar badges and ties were also awarded to the students for their consistent academic brilliance during the past five years. From the Junior Wing Section- Gracy, Bhavleen, Tanujdeep Singh and Ashmeet and from the Senior Wing – Anirudh Malhotra, Muskanpreet Kaur, Amanjot , Kamakshi, Gurmehak Kaur, Brahmleen Kaur and Arshdeep Kaur bagged the honour.

The Best House Trophy for  discipline and cleanliness  was clinched by Sahibzada Zorawar Singh House whereas ,the Best House Activities and Co-curricular Trophy was bagged by Sahibzada  Jujhar  Singh House.

The Chief Guest delivered an enlightening speech and congratulated the proud recipients and their parents. A token of appreciation was given to him by the worthy Chairman Mr. Karnail Singh Brar for his motivational presence throughout the award ceremony.  The event ended with the vote of thanks by hon’ble Headmistress Ms. Amrit Kalsi.

Ironbot 2018

           Inter School Robotics Competition held at St. Soldier School Mohali

To mark the Silver Jubilee Celebration, SSICS hosted an Inter School Robotics Competition-IRONBOT 2018 on 28th July, 2018. The event which aimed at bringing awareness among students about the latest technology regarding school level robotics and their applications saw the young minds visualizing , thinking, managing and solving problems related specifically to the field of Robotics Engineering and Science. There were in all four events for two categories- Lego Robots Category and Open Category. More than 50 participants from 15 different schools of the Tricity enthusiastically exhibited their skills as they vied  against each other to clinch the top positions in the various segments viz. Robo Race, Tug of War, Robo Fight and Web Designing.

The athletic power and brawn of Robos were showcased through the events of Robo Fight, Robo Race and Tug of War.

‘Digital India’ a web designing competition brought out the innovative potential of the participants with the winners.

Kal Aaj aur Kal

As a part of its Silver Jubilee celebration, a  Panel Discussion was held in the conference room of the school. The agenda was to have an interactive session between the alumni and the current students regarding the various facets and features of the institution which have undergone significant changes over the years. The highlights of the discussion were the comparison between the  State of Art  Infrastructure of now and then which the school today feels immensely proud of,the plethora of new co-curricular activities and achievements in the field of sports, the transformation in pedagogy due to the concept of smart classrooms, various endeavours and ventures like the commencement of Sudoku classes, the Samaritan act of ‘Wall of Kindness’ the installation of a Solar Plant to mention a few. The current students’ curiosity got fully satiated as the alumni at length discussed each and every aspect related to their mother institution.Hilarious accounts of classroom anecdotes narrated by both the present and the former students regaled everyone present. The objective of the panel discussion was more than achieved when the alumni in unison exhibited their camaraderie, passion and dedication towards their Alma Mater and came up with innovative ideas for the future developments to help their school reach the acme of success. The event also witnessed the presence of Honorable Director, the Advisor, the Principal and the Head mistress of the school who applauded the effort of the alumni to spare their valuable time and giving commendable inputs thereby making  it an amazing day for all. The Management appreciated the fact that the alumni have selected their Alma Mater as a school for their own words as well.

Crowned Beauty Visits her School

It was an exotic moment for St Soldier International School as its aluminus Meenakshi Choudhary the recipient of the coveted title Femina Miss India first runner up visited her alma mater at the felicitation ceremony organised by the school . The stunning beauty was overwhelmed with emotions as she stepped on the stage to address the students . While sharing the experiences and journey from her school days to the world of Fame and Fashion she emphasised the importance of self confidence to believe in who you are, what you want to be and then nothing is impossible . She felt intensely  grateful to all the teaching faculty who chiselled her personality and supported her throughout her career years which resulted in securing a place in the field of dental surgery – the professional course she is pursuing presently. In an interactive session with the enthusiastic young minds she responded to the questions with patience and honesty which are the hallmarks of her personality . In the welcome address Mrs Anjli Sharma the principal of the school described her as the pride of the school who has got the name of the school imprinted in the history forever and wished her all the best for her upcoming Miss International Grand competition . The Chairman of the school Mr. Karnail Singh felicitated the awesome aluminus with a token of honour and presented a beautiful collage which really regalled  her. It was a memorable moment which will be cherished  by one and all for the years to come .
