Republic Day  celebrated at St. Soldier, Mohali

St. Soldier School reverberated with the patriotic fervor and gusto as the
Management , Staff and zealous students celebrated India’s 70th Republic
Day.The occasion commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by
Principal Anjli Sharma along with the advisor Ms.Vinender Tiwana and Headmistress Amrit Kalsi who took the salute from the NCC contingent of the school. Every heart was pounding with saffron, white and green hues.

The students took pride in glorifying and celebrating the spirit of unity. To mark the importance of this day, a special assembly under the guidance of Ms. Heena Kalia  was conducted by the students of Class V-A who conveyed the significance of fundamental rights and duties in a vivid manner. This was followed by the patriotic messages from the Chairman S. Karnail S. Brar and the Principal . The students were made to take a pledge so as to initiate the quest of cleanliness with themselves, school , locality, society and their country. The mesmerizing dance performance by Ms. Harpreet Dubey showcased a fervent spirit of nationalism which filled every heart with the spirit of sacrifice and brought tears to the eyes of all.

A direct telecast of Republic Day parade and celebrations from the Rajpath in Delhi was showcased to the students who witnessed  South African president Cyril Ramaphosa as the chief guest along with fifty-eight tribal guests from various parts of the country, 22 tableaux of states and central government departments and performance by school children gracing the event and admiring the cultural and social heritage as well as its defence capability that was put on display during the parade at Rajpath.

Skaters bring laurels to St. Soldier’s Mohali

National Roller Basketball Championship was held in Punjab University wherein the students (Under 17 boys) of St. Soldier Int. Convent School Mohali played from Chandigarh and won Gold medal beating U.P. by 6-3. The following players have also been selected for International Championship to be held in Nepal.

Harman Saini ,Raghav,Nilesh and Kirti  brought  glory on the concluding day at St. Soldier Mohali

Sardar Dalip Singh Table Tennis Tournament which had started on 21st December 2018 concluded on 22nd Dec.2018 . Before the Prize Distribution the school had arranged for a vibrant bhangra performance to cheer up the participants and winners. Mr. S.S Grewal- Director and Mr. Dalip Singh Rana-Chief Coach from Punjab Institute of Sports, Phase –IX  Mohali were the Chief guests. At the end of the event, Mr. Grewal delivered a motivational speech and applauded the endeavour of the institution for organizing such a sporty splendor and providing a platform to the budding sportspersons.

Fete & Musical Evening at St. Soldier’s Mohali

St. Soldier Int. Convent School , Mohali witnessed a day of fun, laughter and jubilation on 8^th Dec. as a ‘Extravaganza 2018’ –a School Fete was held at its premises.

This year marks the 25^th anniversary of SSICS and the fete was held to celebrate this milestone. It was declared open by the Chairman Mr. Karnail Singh Brar who was accompanies by other hon’ble members of the ManagementDirector Mr.Karan Singh Brar and Director Mr.Satya Minhas.

The fete commenced at 9.30 a.m. and continued till 4:30p.m. in the evening. The fete-goers included the people from all age groups ambling from one stall to another, enjoying themselves. Students swarmed all over trying their luck at various games stalls. Each stall had loads of attractive prizes. To add to the entertainment, Inter School Competitions of a ‘Talent Hunt’ comprising of Solo Singing and Solo Dance, Rangoli Making, Best Out of Waste, Face Painting and Tattoo Making were conducted. ‘Baby’s Day Out’- A baby show, celebrating childhood was also organized where ‘Chubby-Cherubs’ from different age groups stole the show with their sparkling and lively performances and won wonderful prizes for ‘Healthy Baby’, ‘Most Active and Friendly Baby’, ‘Photogenic Baby’ etc.

The joy rides, mouth watering food arena with ‘Bakers’Bash’,‘Diary Den’, ‘Tambola’, ‘Antaakshri’, Dance Floor-‘Let’s Rock’, ‘Aap ki Farmaish’-a request stall were a big hit with the people. ‘Musical Evening’wherein a power packed performance by Mr. Shaminder Shammi enthralled the audience. It was an exhilarating experience and a memorable day for each and everyone who was a part of this successful event.

Oliver at St. Soldier’s Mohali

 

St. Soldier School commemorated its 25 glorious years of service in the field of education by organizing a musical extravaganza ‘Oliver’ based on the famous Hollywood Musical with its evergreen lyrics composed by Lionel Bart and sung by the school choir and enacted by students of the Junior Wing.

The show was graced by the Chairman Mr.Karnail Singh Brar, the Director Mr.Karan Singh Brar and Director Mr.Satya Minhas.

The show revolved around the titular orphan named ‘Oliver’ played by Akshara and Bhavya the two brilliant budding actors. The little boy’s hardships began at the workhouse run by Mr. Bumble, where this greedy man punished the innocent boy for asking more food and decided to sell him to Sowerberry, a coffin maker just for 5 Pounds. After experiencing a series of miseries there, one day Oliver found an opportunity to escape but he got trapped into a gang of juvenile pickpockets trained by Fagin. Eventually these wily criminals met a befitting fate for their indulgence in heinous crime of human trafficking.

The musical was applauded by the audience by its wonderful direction by the Advisor Ms. Vinender Tiwana and Ms. Amrit Kalsi assisted by the team of teachers. The act of Fagin enthralled everyone as ‘Pawni’ did full justice to her role . The role of deadly gangster ‘Bill Sikes’ enacted by Akshat was lauded greatly. ‘Ridhima’ as Mr. Bumble put up a wonderfull performance. The characters of Mr.Brownlow performed by Ashmeet Kaur impressed everyone. The music by Ms. Arti Teji and the Choreography by Ms. Harpreet Suri mesmerized one and all.

In the end the play ended with a message that Human Trafficking is a heinous crime and should be eliminated from the face of the society.

The Principal Ms. Anjli Sharma applauded the performances of each and every character and thanked the management for providing all the logistic support.

Sher-e-Punjab comes alive at  St. Soldier Mohali

To commemorate 25 years of its inception St. Soldier organized a splendor of light and sound extravaganza ‘Sher-E-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh’ under the astute guidance and direction of Dr. Sahib Singh, Co-director Ms. Rozy Singh and Assistant Director Ms HarpreetKaur. The occasion was graced by Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi- Minister of Technical Educational and Industrial Training . The event showcased a few excerpts from the life of ‘Lion of Five Rivers’ presented by the budding artists from Classes VII – IX and XI . Anurag Raina in the main role of Ranjit Singh was highly applauded by the audience for putting life in the characterization of this historical figure known for his bravery and kindness . The radiance of his character was deftly displayed through the dramatization of incidents from this great warrior’s life which included the war fought by Maharaja and his soldiers to release Shah Shuja and in return receiving the coveted Koh-i-noor by the Begum , the trait of his being secular and respecting all the religions etc. Bipandeep Singh as Chadak Singh –the grand father of Maharaja Ranjit Singh-Ramandeep Singh and Surveen Kaur as ‘Shah Shuja’ and Begum, ‘Lord Lat’ and ‘Lord Metkoff’ played by Aryan Uppal and Amandeep Singh gave a splendid performance that regaled the audience . The School Choir with their soulful rendition lent a colour of vivacity to the act.

The Chief guest in his address applauded the endeavor of the school for providing such a superb platform to the young artists and congratulated them for making the event a memorable one. In the end , Chairman S. Karnail Singh Brar appreciated the effort put in by the students and the teachers .

Learning Beyond the Classroom

The students of Class V had a wonderful experience of ‘Learning Beyond the Classroom’ at the Meteorological Centre in Sector 39, Chandigarh.

They learnt about the techniques to record temperature, wind speed, sunset and sunrise data. They also got apprised about the Rain gauge and ways to measure rain and how the pictures are sent by the satellite and the Radar.

This initiative was taken by the Social Science teachers. Ms Manjeet Rai and Ms. Maninder Kaur to give first hand knowledge to students.

Informative Session at St. Soldier’s Mohali

Round Glass Foundation, a community organisation, working in cities and villages of Punjab, crafting co-existence and eco-sustainability organized a session with the students of SSICS as ‘How to stay safe and responsible around dogs’. The resource person Mr. Inder Sangru, an expert, enlightened the young minds as to reduce animal and human conflicts. His co-fellows Ms. Neeti apprised the students about the behaviour and reactions of this most faithful friend of man in various situations. The need to annually vaccinate the dogs against rabies was re-iterated. The spirit of compassion and the aim of promoting co-existence between animals, human and environment to be made a way of life were the highlights of the session.

Gurpurab celebrated at St. Soldier Mohali

Guru Nanak Jayanti was celebrated at St. Soldier Mohali with great enthusiasm. In the morning assembly toddlers of  Nursery C under the guidance of their class teacher Ms Indu Maria  enlightened the students about the birth, birthplace and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev ji ,who is the founder of Sikhism and the first guru of Sikhs. They sang two beautiful Shabads in praise of the great Guru.

                                        Children’s Day celebrated at St. Soldier Mohali

The 129th  Birth Anniversary of our First Prime Minister, Late Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru was celebrated at St.Soldier’s Mohali with much fanfare. The Head Boy for the day was Mr. Manish Parmar (Computer Teacher)and the Head Girl was Ms.Alka ( PGT Economics) .The morning assembly  began with the announcement of  Ulta-Pulta News by the Senior Secondary teachers and Thought for the Day by Ms.Heena (PRT Eng) .Ms. Ravneet Kaur apprised everyone about the significance of Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru’s life.Classes I and II teachers mesmerized the children by showcasing their dancing and singing skills and presented a medley of songs based on the famous Bollywood songs of children. The highlight of the day was the bamboozling riddles by
Ms. Amrit Kalsi and Principal Ms.Anjli Sharma. A fabulous dance performance on the beat of ‘Ghumar’ song from Padmavat by Ms.Harpreet Suri thrilled the excited young minds.

A prize distribution function to facilitate the winners of Inter School Photography Competition and Inter Class Logo Designing Competition was also held.

In her speech Principal Ms. Anjli Sharma greeted the students and stressed upon the need of being physically and mentally fit, being kind and patient to parents and spending quality time with them whenever possible. Later the children had class parties and enjoyed cookies arranged by the Management.
Toddlers- attired in their party dresses were welcomed by their respective Class teachers. Pre Nursery B under the guidance of Ms.Sangeeta Nanda held the morning assembly on Children’s Day and were later taken for a picnic to the Rose Garden Mohali.

Chairman Mr. Karnail Singh Brar congratulated the children and applauded the effort of teachers to enthrall their students.
