Kala Kriti at St. Soldier’s Mohali

To bring forth the innate skills and have the creative genius of the students,St. Soldier Mohali organized ‘Kala Kriti’ –an Art and Craft Exhibition on 3rd Nov, 2018. The Chief Guest Mr.Balbir Singh Sidhu-Cabinet Minister, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Farming, Fishery and Labour, Punjab graced the occasion. His benign presence enthused the students. All the artifacts on display were the handiwork of the students which were made from the indigenous products as jute, cloth, beads etc. The students from Classes Play Group-Classes IX & XI showcased their asesthetic abilities and there were corners in the exhibition attributed to art, jewelry, glass painting, fabric painting and best out of waste. The live demo corners catering to nail art, tattoo and mehandi was a hit among the audience.

The creativity of Play-Group, Nurseries and K.Gs captivated the attention of Parents especially the Name Plates,Bookmarks and Photo Frames made with the Ice-Cream sticks.Hand bags, Foot mats andCushion covers made out of old jeans, waste towels , wool and old T-shirts were the outstanding pieces of skill and art. With Diwali-the festival of lights around the corner Diya decoration, decorative candles,small and cute candle holders sold like hot cakes. The Mock Company of the school ’Tasty Treat’  satiated the thirst of the audience with their ‘Kool Korner’ by selling out cold drinks and ice-creams.

To tickle the taste buds of the people ,the senior students along with their teachers put up Funky Food Stalls which included- Chinese snacks like Veg.Manchurian, Noodles and Spring Rolls. The spicy Chaat Papri, Golgappas, Grilled Sandwiches, Stuffed Kulcha etc. were among the delectable mouth watering eatables.

The exhibition saw an overwhelming response by the audience as there was not only a heavy footfall but also people purchased the handcrafted items. Classes K.G., IV and XI were adjudged the best for their excellent creativity and neat display by the judges Ms. Preetinder Khurana and Ms. Neelu Sandhu. The Chief guest applauded the teamwork and aesthetic abilities of the students and teachers .He also appreciated the effort of the school to provide a platform to the students wherein they can exhibit their hidden talent. The exhibition was conceptulised by Ms. Anjli Sharma and proved to be a huge success which was lauded by one and all.

Dussehra Celebration

Dussehra was celebrated at St. Soldier Mohali with great enthusiasm. The tiny tots of K.G.-B under the guidance of Ms. Poonam Sandhu put up the morning assembly. They enacted the Ram Leela in a cute manner singing bhajans in their appropriate costumes. Ravana stole the show with his guffaw ha  ha  ha ….There was much excitement among the little ones when Raavana was killed by Ram and his effigy was set on fire. During the day students coloured the masks of Raavana and were glad to carry home their take aways. At the end Co-ordinator Bismin Brar  applauded the efforts of the little ones and their teacher. She also appreciated the parents for their co-operation in arranging beautiful costumes. Jai Shri Ram echoed in the air.

Grand Parents Day Out

Grandparents are a family’s greatest treasure, the founders of a loving legacy the greatest storytellers, the keepers of traditions with  loving, generous and caring hearts. To acknowledge the great work and significant role which grandparents play in the lives of their grandchildren, St. Soldier School, Mohali hosted ‘GRANDPARENTS’ DAY OUT’ with gusto and elation in the school auditorium on 6 th Oct 2018.

The occasion commenced with the Welcome speech by Principal Anjli Sharma who apprised them that their grandchildren were as dear to the school as they were to them. The first event of the day was a welcome song by KG C followed by an alluring assembly of KG A which showcased the importance of grand patents and the need to cherish their wisdom and experience which captivated everybody’s heart and soul. The soulful qawwali singing by the tiny tots of class II regaled everyone and made the audience feel ecstatic and overwhelmed with emotions. Fun Games engaged the parents throughout. Dressing your spouse was the most entertaining game.

 

The good old era of 70s and 80s regaled the parents and made them dance to the famous film songs. The enactment by the little ones showcasing the Sahibzadas paying a tribute to the unconditional love, kindness, comforts and lessons of life imparted to them and to the entire mankind by ‘MATA GUJRI JI’ – their grandmother stirred the emotional chord of all present. A spectacular Kathak performance by Kaira K G A garnered lot of applause by Grannies and Grandpas. The show came to an end with a vibrant and zestful bhangra performance by young ones of Class I.

 

Headmistress Amrit Kalsi  delivered the vote of thanks and applauded  the excellent efforts of each and every participant and teachers for putting up such a successful show to honour the grand parents

Parakram-Parv

Parakram-Parv celebrated at St. Soldier Mohali

To commemorate the second anniversary of Surgical strike conducted by the valiant soldiers of our armed forces protecting the borders of our motherland, ‘Parakram-Parv’ was observed at St. Soldier with a patriotic fervor. A series of activities were organized which included writing letters and cards to the Armed Forces. A special parade ceremony by NCC cadets, Boy Scouts and Girl Guides was organized to pay a tribute to the selfless, unconditional dedication and service rendered by the Defense Forces to the nation. A pledge was also taken by the students including NCC cadets with full enthusiasm expressing their solidarity and support to the Armed Forces. The principal of the school Ms. Anjli Sharma delivered a motivational lecture to apprise the young minds about the gallant action of Surgical Strike by the Indian Army which aimed to dissuade inimical adversary from adopting the path of violence and to ensure an environment of peace.

Paddlers- Pride of St. Soldier Mohali

To make sure that the students become all rounders by garnerning leadership qualities, team management, co-ordination and the spirit of healthy competition, CBSE organises yearly Inter –School Competitions for all clusters. Likewise from Sept 7 to Sept 9, CBSE conducted Table Tennis Cluster XVIII at St. Joseph School, Sector-44, Chandigarh. In the team event, this year too the paddlers of St. Soldier Mohali, registered a spectacular win and pocketed the trophy in U-17 Boys after beating the team of Durga Das Public School by 3-0. The proud team consisted of Harman Saini, Jaskanwal Singh, Jaskeerat Singh and Abhinam. In U-14 Girls, Kirti and Tanisha clinched the third position.

In the Individual Event, riding on the momentum, Harman Saini towered over Ishaan from Learning Path School by 3-0 for securing the first place where as Kirti was declared as the second Runner up in U-14 Girls.

Students Enthrall Mentors at St. Soldier, Mohali

A teacher is indeed influential in moulding  the destiny of a child . To express their deep devotion and reverence towards their teachers, the students of St. Soldier School ,Mohali presented a colourful array of performances , celebrating  Teachers’ Day.

Mentors were greeted warmly as they entered , with greeting cards made by students . The classes were taken over by ‘Student-Teachers’ who managed them effectively. The celebration commenced with the morning assembly by the students of Class I-A under the guidance of their teacher Ms Ravneet Kaur. They showcased the importance of teachers in their lives through a thought provoking performance. This was followed by Western dance, songs and a skits by the Senior . A stupendous PowerPoint presentation by  Ex head girl Ms. Chahat Kalsi was a befitting tribute to all the mentors who brought out the best in her. Fun games for the teachers and a vibrant Bhangra regaled everyone.

Principal Ms.Anjli Sharma and Headmistress Ms Amrit Kalsi appreciated the effort of students for organizing and presenting the whole show for their mentors.

Tree Plantation Drive

Tree Plantation Drive

As a part of Silver Jubilee Celebration Tree Plantation Drive was organized by the students of St. Soldier School, Mohali in collaboration with St. Soldier Interact Club Mohali. Over 50 saplings were planted in the areas adjoining Chapparchidi. Emphasizing the need to protect and conserve the environment. Principal, Ms Anjli Sharma planted the first sapling. She made all the students take a pledge not only to plant trees but also nurture them. Last year too, the students of Interact Club planted around 30 saplings in the surrounding areas of Chunni.

One can see the success of last year’s plantation drive inside St. Soldier Smart School Campus with the plants having grown sizably tall.
